Below is an email from Mike and graph showing
a comparison of the 4 occulted instruments I have data for. The Andor was a 4 channel test instrument and I can not vouch for it's accuracy. We did calibrations but did not do much in the way of characterizations. For the modeled data used with Andor I used the average Hawaii values from my thesis. For the other three occults (HyperPro Hawaii, HyperPro Maryland and FISH Hawaii) I tried to find the closest/best meteorlogical values as inputs. As Mike's graphs show the FISH is the outlier. It might be the large white tent right next to it made the diffuse values higher and so it matches the model better. I think with the data below it is likely the model is high and the measurements are more correct.
Hi Steph,
I threw out the "Clouds" data points you sent below, and plotted
X = solar zenith vs Y = measured / modeled 450nm Diffuse/Direct
and the one outlier is the FISH !

Yea, I am not sure I would 100% believe the Andor data. I don't think
we characterized it very well. But is does go low like the HyperPro data.
I created the tables below for each experiment. We only have one
instrument which correctly matches the model and that was Resonon.
Maybe if I make a graphs with the 450 nm Diffuse/direct ratio for the
model for a few days and locations and add the data from Hyper, Res
and Andor to see the effect of zen etc on the model. Might help with
the analysis.

Thanks for this Steph !
So, is Andor's low-vs-model similar to Hyperpro's low-vs-model ?
Also, I think we should know what date/time this Andor data was
( 9 hr offset @ in-file time ? )
and maybe what the solar zenith angle was ?
I'm wondering if measured-Es-occult vs model-occult is a function
of solar zenith angle ? I.E. what were the solar zenith's during:
1.) Andor Oahu8 shipboard low-vs-model
2.) Mike O's Oahu13 shipboard low-vs-model
3.) Mike F's post-Oahu13 workbench-by-tent OK-vs-model
4.) Mike O's post-Oahu13 unknown-setup kinda-low-vs model

Andor occulted verses the model. It was a bit tricky. The andor
files were not in GMT so I had to add 9 hours to get the files times
to match the logsheet times. 9 Hours seems odd to me. I don't
remember much about the system responses either. I don't remember
how well this instrument worked. But the Andor ratio is much lower
than the Model. I would be a big question mark on these results.
The attached report is the only doumentation I could find. Any ideas?

I don't see one occulted kine red line in that there top panel ?

I don't seem to have any log sheets for that experiment but I do
have the data. In the attached plot it mentions that the red line
is occult-ed. But it does not look occult-ed to me. I have data
for stations 3 and 4 but I don't see processed data or graphs. So
without log sheets it would be impossible to figure those to out.
Could you send the logsheets for stations 2,3 and 4?

Hi Steph,
I didn't want to take everyone's time on the tele to bring this
up, but,
Mike O mentioned remembering us doing Es occult on the back deck
of the Wyrtki back in the day. That was not done via MOS, so I
don't
have that data. That was done with the Andor, so maybe you have
that data (?)... I found photos & Mark Y. log sheets for this =
